Secured Print to a Canon Copier from a Mac
Using 'Secured Print' on a Canon Copier allows one to print a document to the copier. However, the print job will not print till you release it while at the copier itself.
This is best when printing documents with confidential information.
The instructions below will show one how to 'Secured Print' to a Canon Copier (Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE) from a Macintosh computer.
NOTE:
These instructions were created in MacOS 15 (Sequoia). Steps may vary slightly in different Mac operating systems.
Steps.
- Open the document that you wish to print.
- Set the document to print to the desired Canon Copier, so that the print dialog window appears.
Click the angle bracket (>) to the right of Print Options (see image directly below).
Click the information icon ( 🛈 ) to the right of Special Features.

- In the Special Features window, change the 'Job Processing' option to 'Secured Print'.
Then, click 'OK'.

- Click 'Print'.
NOTE:

- The 'Secured Print' dialog window should appear.
Enter the desired 'Document Name:' and 'PIN' (the PIN can be any number).
Then, click 'OK'.

- The print job will be sent to the Canon Copier.
Go to the copier to release the document, using the PIN you created above.
- On the Canon Copier control panel, tap the 'Home' icon.

- Scroll through the copier options till you find the 'Print' option.
Tap the 'Print' icon.

- Tap your waiting print job.
Then, tap the 'Start Printing' icon.

- Enter the PIN (created above) using the keypad to the right.
Then, click 'OK'.

The document should now print.
