Antivirus for Pomona College owned Macs
As a part of ongoing security improvements, the college deployed Defender for Endpoint antivirus to all college-owned Macintosh computers during spring break (2023). All Windows computers already have this software installed.
The same software had been deployed previously to lab and classroom Macs across the campus without trouble.

What is Defender for Endpoint
Defender for Endpoint is antivirus plus, and it helps to protect you from viruses, malware, and potentially unwanted applications.
How will I be impacted?
ITS used an automatic macOS software deployment tool to install the software. You should now notice the following item in the macOS menu bar at the top right of your computer screen.
The icon may be slightly different at first as instead of a checkmark as it sometimes has other symbols while the software receives the latest antivirus definition updates.
