Access a Shared Mailbox
A shared mailbox makes it easy for a group of people to monitor and send email from a public email address. When a person in the group replies to a message sent to the shared mailbox, the reply appears to come from the shared address, not from the individual person.
NOTE:
The instructions below assume you have expressly been given access to a shared email account by ITS, via a request from the supervisor of the shared account.
The content below includes:
- Access to Share Email Account through Webmail
- Access to Share Email Account through Outlook for Windows
- Access to Share Email Account through Outlook for Mac

Access to Share Email Account through Webmail
The easiest way to access a shared email account is through Webmail.
To do so:
- Go to https://mail.pomona.edu and login with your Pomona College credentials.
- Once logged in, click on your personal icon (the circle with your initials) in the upper right-hand corner and select 'Open another mailbox'.

- Enter the email address of the shared email account (e.g., info@pomona.edu) in the 'Open Another Mailbox' field that opens and click Open.
The email account should be open now, where you should be able to send messages.
Access to Share Email Account through Outlook for Windows
Once you have been given access to shared email account in Outlook for Windows, you will see the email account folders listed below your own account's list of folders, like that in the image directly below.
